Its operational use was not entirely successful, but the Heinkel He 177 is still an iconic aircraft. Its concept is unique. In each wing, two engines were placed side by side with a drive to a common gearbox. This turned a four-bladed propeller. The bomber thus looked like having only a pair of engines.

We have already offered the Heinkel He 177 kit earlier. Now we are returning it to the offer with redesigned small parts. These are now made from metal moulds, originally the kit was all short-run. The decals offer markings for two Luftwaffe machines, first one of which took part in the Operation Steinbock, Luftwaffes bombing offensive against Great Britain. The operation was launched in the spring of 1944 and caused more losses than gains for which the British mockingly called the offensive Baby Blitz. The other scheme option of the kit set features a machine with yellow trim and in two differing forms.

- the only 1/48 model kit portraying the He 177 aeroplane
- new metal tooling parts accompanying the original ones
- photo etches, 3D printed parts and resin cast parts included in the box
- also available for this kit are more resin detail parts and pre-cut set of masks

The M in the designation means Military, Ryan supplied these aircraft to the US Air Force (they later preferred the PT-22 version with radial engine), to China, Dutch East Indies and several Latin American air forces. The American planes were used for training on US soil, those in the Dutch East Indies had a more colourful fate. Part of them was equipped with floats, the others had a wheeled undercarriage. They were used for training both army and navy pilots. After a Japanese attack, part of the Dutch planes was destroyed, some were captured and used by the Japanese Air Force. The rest were evacuated to Australia where they joined the RAAF training units and served there till the end of the war.

We first made the PT-20 kit in 1995 and in 2004 we reboxed it as the PT-22 version. Both kits were sold out in 2006. But while we were cleaning up our warehouse recently (AKA the Tin House) we found a whole box of these sprues. So we decided to re-introduce the kit to modellers. The sprues are not really up to Special Hobbys current standards so we created a new product line with the fitting name Vintage treasure.

The decals are new and offer one USAAF plane and an ex-Dutch one in RAAF colours. The windshields are vacuformed. We recommend this kit for experienced modellers only. As we have a very limited number of sprues you can only buy the kit via our website or at modelling shows where we participate.

Focke Wulf Fw 187A-0 Falke 1/72 is a kit from 2004. It originally contained plastic parts, etches and resin cast parts. Now, to make it not so very much retro, you will find two sprues with plastic parts added plus one with clear parts, also an updated fret of etchs, redesigned resin parts and brand new 3D printed parts

The twin-engine Fw 187 was originally designed as a single-seat, later a two-seat heavy fighter. It's performance was superior to that of the Bf 110, but the Luftwaffe decided not to operate the type mainly due to the absence of rear firing defensive armament. The already produced machines were tested and then deployed to the Industrie-Schutzstaffel defending the Focke Wulf plant in Bremen.

- truly interesting type
- the kit also contains fret of etches, resin cast parts and 3d-printed parts

During development and testing, the purpose was re-evaluated and the aircraft was modified for operational use as a fighter-bomber. The modified design was designated Ro.57bis. Originally, 200 production machines were ordered, but this quantity was reduced to 90, and only 60 were produced in total. The aircraft were operationally deployed within the 97° Gruppo from February 1943.

The kit consists of three sprues of plastic parts, and a sprue with clear parts. The plastic parts are supplemented with detailed resin parts and etches. The decals offer three machines in fighter-bomber configuration.

- one of only very few Italian twin engine fighter types
- fret of etches and resin cast parts included

A group of Italian navy aviators knew it, too, and so they decided to fly eight IMAM / Romeo Ro.43 floatplanes from La Spezia to La Maddalena. They took off the moment the German troops started to take over the local armoury. Two of them were shot down, remaining six managed to reach the Spanish Balearic Islands. The Ro.43s were interned there and later put to service with the Spanish Naval Air Force designated HR.7.
Our kit contains a sheet of decals covering one machine wearing the original Italian markings and also one machine as flown later in Spanish colours.
- very interesting colour options
- remarkable history
- also contains detail resin parts and photo etches

Those of you who fancy naval machines will now have a nice and welcome chance to build such Cobra helicopter model using our new boxing which offers four scheme options, two from the Vietnam war, two from the US. Three of them as flown with the Marines, the fourth belonged to the Navy. Superbly detailed model consists of as many as ten grey styrene sprues and one with clear parts.
- extremely attractive colour schemes
- separately available - masks and other accessory sets.

The excellent styrene parts are joined by no less perfect 3D-printed items (made in cooperation with Mini Craft Collection) which contain the ejection seat, speed brakes, 250kg bombs and Shafrir missiles on their racks. The decal sheet caters for three Israeli machines in various colour schemes.

The French Dassault Super Mystere B2 was the first Western European, mass production-built jet fighter to achieve supersonic speed in a level flight. The type was a follow-on development of Dassault's earlier successful jet fighter airplanes such as the Ouragan or Mystere IV and a number of test prototypes too. The first production airframe, out of the total of 180 built, first flew on 26 February 1957, with the production machines being allocated to No.10, 12 and 5 escadrons of the Armée de l'Air, they also served with test centres CEV and CEAM and in flying schools. Later machines were fitted with more powerful Atar 101G-2 or G-3 engines. The type was on strength of combat squadrons until 1977 when the last remaining SMB2s of No.12 Escadron were replaced by more modern Mirage III jets. The service of SMB2s with the French military was quite uneventful, the only exception to the dull military routine were the occasional air force exercises which took place in NATO countries or in Africa and also the Operation Air Bull in Thailand. The most important operator of the type outside of France, the Israel Air Force saw much more interesting flying and combtat career of the type - their SMB2s took part in a series of clashes, conflicts and wars between Israel and its Arab neighbours. These wars are know as the War over Water, Six Day War, Yom Kippur War and also the rather lengthy conflict between these "regular" wars, the Attrition War. The State of Israel had placed the order for the SMB2 fighters already in 1956, this being confirmed only two years later, in 1958. The SMB2, locally known as the Sambad, were deliveder in two batches of 24 and 12 airframes. Seven more of them were delivered later to make up for losses suffered during the service. Soon after the Sambads had been delivered, Israel acquired also the excellent Mirage IIIC jets which became its major front line fighter aircraft, so the Sambads were deployed just to one Tayeset, or Squadron (the 105th) and flew mainly in the fighter-bomber role. Owing to the trouble with spare parts caused by the French arms embargo, the Israeli Aircrafr Industries (IAI) proposed to fit the already rather worn out airframes with the US-built J52 turbofan. Even though these powerplants lacked the reheat, they were 25% lighter, had lower fuel consumption and offered thrust almost comparable to their French counterparts. As the new unit weighted less, it had to be mounted further back in the rear fuselage and as the nozzle was also already longer, it resulted in much longer jet pipe of the new machines compared to the standard Sambad. In the end, this change proved to help the type's survivability after being hit by enemy's IR-guided anti-aircraft missiles - the missiles homed usually on the hot exhaust nozzle and when exploded, the war head fragments did not hit the tail control surfaces as lethaly as was the case with the standard, short tailed Sambad type. The performance remained almost the same, except for acceleration and initial rate of climb. What is more, the type could carry much more underwing stores, had much larger range and could operate in the combat area much longer. In total, 26 airframes were re-engined and they were known in the IAF as the Sa'ar, or Storm in Hebrew. In a short time, they got the opportunity to show their capabilities in the 1973 Yom Kippur War and excelled in the ground attack role. In 1975, the 105th Tayeset received their new F-4 Phantom II jets and the already obsolete Sa'ars finally retired.
- superbly detailed and highly accurate model in the Hi-Tech format
- accurate decals incule servicing stencils for three IAF airframes in various colour schemes
- wide variety of underwing armament contained in the kit
- limited release

Due to the need of helicopters capable of destroying armoured vehicles or the enemys fortified footholds, Israel in cooperation with its US counterpart converted these helicopters to the AH-1S version. This AH-1S airframes were equipped with the TOW missiles. Israeli helicopters still retained several features typical for the older AH-1G version helicopters. The kit set offers highly detailed styrene parts coming on as many as nine sprues and one with clear canopy parts. The decals sheet offers markings for three brown machines (one of which in two different forms) with two of them sporting Yellow ID "V" letters.
- superbly detailed model
- attractive operator

It is estimated that about six thousand of these simple aircraft might have been built. While before the war, the Grunau Baby gliders were built mainly by amateur pilots using available drawings, with the war on the horizon the type entered almost mass production in Germany to serve as a basic training type with the NSFK - Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps, a paramilitary organization within the Nazi party. And the same system of flying training was used by Germany allies such as Slovakia or Croatia.
Our model of this important type comes on one styrene sprue joined by a clear one with the windshield. The decal sheet caters for two NSFK gliders, one of which flew in a camouflage scheme in Eastern Prussia in 1944 whilst the other one was flown from an airfield near the city of Dresden and featured a painted emblem of a sponsoring organisation. These two schemes are joined by two more, one from Slovakia with civil registration and one as owned by the Croatia air force.

- accurate and nicely detailed model
- interesting colour schemes
- a type very important for the history of aviation

Model of a French jet fighter. The model is moulded using metal type tools, contains 8 sprues of plastic parts (two are duplicates) and a sprue with clear parts. The SMB-2 Super Mystère was the first mass-produced Western European aircraft to exceed the speed of sound in level flight. In its development, Dassault built on its previous mass-produced fighter types as were the Ouragan and Mystère IVB and a number of experimental prototypes. The first production aircraft, out of 180 produced, first took to the air on 26 February, 1957. The new aircraft were gradually assigned to three squadrons of the Armée de `l Air, numbers 10, 12 and 5, and also flew at the CEV and CEAM test centers and in flight schools. Later produced SMB-2s received the more powerful Atar 101G-2 or G-3 engine. The Super Mysteres flew with combat squadrons until 1977, when the last SMB-2s of Squadron 12 were retired and replaced by the Mirage III. The SMB-2 service of the Armée de `l Air was relatively uneventful, with exercises in NATO countries, Africa and participation in the Operation Air Bull in Thailand.
The situation was exactly the opposite for the other user, the Israeli Air Force. The SMB-2's service with the IAF was marked by participation in a series of conflicts with Israel's Arab neighbours, known as the War over Water, the Six-Day War, the Yom Kippur War and the protracted conflict between these wars, the so-called War of Attrition. Soon after the Sambads, the excellent Mirage IIICs were delivered to Israel, which became the main front-line fighters. The Sambads were therefore assigned to only one unit, the 105th Squadron, and were used mainly as fighter-bombers.

- finely detailed and top notch accurate model
- perfect and accurate decals for three Armée de `l Air machines, including full set of stencils
- also available are pre-cut masks, A couple of 3D-printed sets in the pipeline

In 1934, the Italian Air Ministry issued specifications for a new heavy twin-engine bomber. The first BR.20 prototype took off for the first time on 10 February 1936 and was put into service in September of the same year. The first production batches had a Breda D.R type dorsal turret with two 7.7 mm machine guns. Later batches received the Breda M.1 dorsal turret with one 12.7 mm machine gun. Compared to the competing SM.79, the Fiat BR.20 had a shorter range, but a greater payload and more suitable bomb storage. Due to this, it achieved a much higher bombing accuracy than other Italian bombers. Italy tested its BR.20 Fiats in the deployment of the Aviazione Legionaria on the Frankist side in the Spanish Civil War. A total of thirteen aircraft were deployed in Spain. They took part in raids in the Battle of Elbro and the bombing of Teruel and proved themselves. Some obsolescence was already showing at the start of World War II, but Fiats still fought over southern France in 1940, as well as over the Mediterranean, Albania, Yugoslavia and Greece. As a reaction to the gradual obsolescence of the Fiat BR.20, a modernized version BR.20M was designed and put into production in 1939. BR.20 Fiats were also exported. The only Fiat purchased by Venezuela is a marginal issue, the second export was much more significant. At the end of 1937, Japan ordered a total of 82 BR.20 machines. Japan had been fighting in China since July 1937 and was in dire need of heavy bombers. From February 1938, BR.20s were used in combat. As the BR.20 operated at long range without fighter protection, they suffered quite significant losses. The Japanese also disliked the complexity and demanding maintenance. In the second half of 1939, BR.20s were gradually withdrawn for training and replaced by new Ki-21s.
The kit offers decals of one machine operating in Spain, one machine of the Italian Regia Aeronautica and one machine of the Japanese Army Air Force. The machine returned from a raid in Manchuria damaged by fire from Chinese fighters, which is also shown in the box art.

- very interesting and varied colour schemes
- the only available 1/48 scale Fiat Br.20 model
- the kit contains resin cast parts and etches

The outbreak of the war meant change in the type's purpose and it began to fly for the Luftwaffe as a trainer. This variety of the Siebel was also produced in oddupied countries, in Czechoslovakia and in France. And in both these countries, the production went on also after the war had ended. The French produced several various versions and even with three-bladed propellers. These airframes were exported to the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden, too.
Our model of the NC-701 Martinet transport version offers decals for a French Aéronavale option, one as used by Polish LOT transport company and finaly a Swedish civilian machine.

- eye-catching versions
- contains also etches and 3D-printed parts
