Alginate is a problem-free impression material with which quick and easy hollow moulds (negative moulds) can be taken from an original model.

This impression material is completely harmless and can also be applied to the skin:
Alginates are used in professional make-up art.
Many studios or theatres use the alginate to get a perfect impression of an actor's face.
Erotic body impressions (breast, buttocks) are also possible with it without any problems and at low cost.
In principle, you can cast all water-soluble materials into an alginate mould - plaster, relief plaster, dental plaster, hard plaster (e.g. our TFC Xyrarock), casting clay.

Silicone rubber only works to a very limited extent, as the alginate mould contains water and there can then be air bubbles and an unsightly surface on the contact surface between the silicone and alginate.

This moulding material is also very interesting for model makers.
You can use alginate for your model making, cars, houses or even entire landscapes.

Also, alginate is an optimal material for restorers for the restoration of old objects.
Very easy to handle.

Super easy to use.
Clean processing.
Fast imaging in 3-4 minutes.
For the highest mask-making demands.
Ideal for your body art.
Also suitable for the construction of casting moulds.
Precise impression of your models.
Always consistent, clean quality.
Skin-friendly and without chemicals.
Optimal reproduction of details.
Smooth and clean model surfaces.
Fast impression.
Reduced dust formation.
Also very suitable as restoration material.

Casting compound suitable for pouring: relief casting compound Plastalin.

Alginate (blue)
An alginate for removing the impression.
Possible mixing ratios in weight proportions:
2 parts water, 1 part alginate for a firm impression compound
3 parts water, 1 part alginate for a medium consistency

Water temperature:
Use water (approx. 12 degrees Celsius) and, if possible, distilled water.
A higher water temperature shortens the processing time.

Mixing sequence:
For an optimum mixture, add the water to the alginate. When doing so, make sure that no powder nests form, which can later have an unfavourable effect as lumps.

Mixing
Mix the components carefully for approx. 30-40 seconds until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.
Process a small test quantity in advance to familiarise yourself with the material.

Application:
Apply the alginate to the object or body part that is to be moulded. The material is fully cured after about 3-5 minutes from the start of mixing at 23 degrees room temperature. Depending on the selected mixing ratio, a jelly- to pudding-like consistency results after hardening, with a firm consistency comparable to a sliceable sausage e.g. Mortadella.
Please note the short processing time if you want to process larger quantities at once.

Notes
The alginate mould can be strengthened and supported by applying plaster bandages.
The finished mould contains a high water content, shrinks due to evaporation of the moisture it contains and should be poured out quickly, i.e. max. 2-3 hours after setting.

The application is easier if it is warmed up slightly before application.

The separating petroleum jelly is free of harmful substances.

By adding up to 20% silicone oil, the elasticity and tear resistance of silicone rubber can be increased. Silicone Oil is characterised by the fact that it keeps its viscosity constant over a wide temperature range and, unlike other oils, becomes thinner with increasing temperature. The colourless/transparent silicone oil also has other quite useful applications. Due to a unique combination of excellent properties, silicone oils are also suitable, for example, as:

- Release agents
- Lubricants
- Antifoams
- Polishes
- Hydrophobing
- Protective and maintenance agents

Important note:

The surfaces with which the material comes into contact must be completely clean, grease-free and dry.

Dynamic viscosity at 25°C 50 mPas
Density at 25°C 0,96 g/cm³
Tensile strength 0021 N/m
Flash point> 250°C
Break point at 25°C approx. 1.403

Silcoflex-HE is a highly tear-resistant RTV silicone impression material (RTV: cross-linking at room temperature). It is particularly suitable for moulding complicated figures with extreme undercuts and is also heat-resistant like Silcotin-HB. It is used in mould making wherever, instead of a two-part or multi-part mould, a one-part elastic, tear-resistant mould makes casting easier and increases cost-effectiveness. As Silcoflex-HE is more expensive than Silcotin-HB, the two products are often mixed together to create a flexible, elastic mould that meets the requirements. The mixing ratio can be varied, it depends on how flexible the mould is to become. All common casting compounds can be used for casting the mould, e.g. relief and picture wax, casting ceramics, polyester resins, polyurethane casting compounds, plaster, concrete, casting soap and of course also tin. Silcoflex-He has a medium viscosity and therefore excellent flow properties. It is almost shrinkage-free (5%) and self-venting. It is mixed with 1.5 - 2% silicone cross-linker and cures within 90 - 300 minutes. Delivery includes detailed instructions, crosslinker (10 ml) and mixing bowl. Total weight 500 g
