The "Britannic" sank in 1916 as a hospital ship after hitting a mine. This is followed by a section of about 30 pages, which is mainly aimed at model builders. Here the reader will find information on existing kits and fittings, eight illustrated articles on completed model projects in various scales (1:144, 1:200, 1:350 and 1:1200) as well as 10 colour profiles with deck and side views. Each book is richly illustrated and takes the modeller through a brief history of each class, highlighting the differences between sister ships and the changes in their appearance over the course of their careers. Also included are colour schemes and camouflages with colour profiles and highly detailed line drawings and scale plans. The modelling section looks at the strengths and weaknesses of the available kits, lists commercial accessory kits for extra detailed ship design and gives advice on modifying and improving the basic kit. This is followed by an extensive photographic overview of selected high-quality models in various scales, and the book concludes with a section on research references - books, monographs, large plans and relevant websites. The two ships covered in this volume were the only capital ships designed and built in the interwar period - a particular concession of the Washington Agreement which prohibited the construction of new battleships - and they were unlike any other ships before them: Three-quarters of the superstructure was aft and all the main armament turrets were forward of the bridge. During the war, the "Nelson" survived mine and torpedo damage, while the "Rodney" was instrumental in the destruction of the "Bismarck"; both survived and were scrapped after the war.

Lavishly illustrated, each book takes the modeler through a brief history of the subject class, highlighting differences between sisterships and changes in their appearance over their careers. This includes paint schemes and camouflage, featuring color profiles and highly-detailed line drawings and scale plans. The modeling section reviews the strengths and weaknesses of available kits, lists commercial accessory sets for super-detailing of the ships, and provides hints on modifying and improving the basic kit. This is followed by an extensive photographic survey of selected high-quality models in a variety of scales, and the book concludes with a section on research references - books, monographs, large-scale plans and relevant websites. This volume covers the two related classes of Japanese 14in-gunned battleships, originally built during the First World War but subsequently totally reconstructed. They are famous for the towering forward superstructure, usually described as a pagoda bridge, that they featured when rebuilt. Ise and Hyuga underwent further reconstruction during the Second World War to emerge as a unique hybrid of battleship and aircraft carrier in a desperate attempt to compensate for fleet carriers sunk earlier in the war.
