This is the fourth book in the How to Guides series, which aims to provide detailed information on painting and general modelling techniques for all modellers. The books contain high quality photographs and detailed text, allowing readers to easily follow the progress of assembly and painting methods and adopt new modelling techniques and different approaches. This edition has 70 pages instead of the usual 68, with 160 photos and 93 colour chips. The authors take a detailed look at the painting and weathering of a 1/35th scale Russian World War II Panzer IV, and renowned artist Radek Pituch provides a detailed account of the colour modulation technique and weathering sequence with 60 large-format step-by-step pictures, allowing the reader to see all the painting and weathering details and all the colours and materials used. A brief historical outline and some details about the Dragon kit are also included. Radek's aim was to reveal all his secrets for the painting (colour modulation) and weathering process and so the updating and upgrading of the tank has been kept to a minimum as the Dragon kit is a very good 1/35th scale model. The next article is for a German Panzer IV Ausf. E Tauchpanzer in Panzergrau camouflage by Panagiotis Giatzoglou, which runs to seven pages and includes 11 large format photos so the reader can see all the minute details. The author has written a very detailed text so that the reader can easily follow his painting and weathering methods, even if the usual step-by-step photos are missing... The next seven pages are devoted to the relevant acrylic paint sets for WWII Russian and German tanks - contrast and desaturation sets - rain and dust liquid pigments for rain stains, dust, soil and general weathering, and liquid pigments for emphasising details. The final 12 pages present some decals and accessories that can be used to create a realistic and unique 1/35th scale Panzer IV Ausf. E tank.

Volume 3 of the "Scale Model Handbook. How To Guides Series". This book introduces the small military scale 1/72nd and 1/76th by taking the work of the master in this field, Alex Clark, as a starting point. Most people started with models and figures in 1:76 and 1:72 scales, but later turned to 1:35 and 1:32 scales for military themes and figures, or 1:48 for aeroplanes. Alex Clark has undertaken an extensive conversion for an accurate representation of a 1/72nd scale Iraqi Type 69-II main battle tank. He used the kit of a T-54B (medium production) from "AMMO Mig Jimenez" (A.MIG-8502) as a basis. The editors have decided to present all the material in detail, or at least most of the material that could be found, as much of it is no longer in production. So here they present the relevant models, photo-etched parts, brass accessories, resin tracks, decal sets, paints, weathering materials, reference books and more. Alex Clark explains in detail how to rebuild and upgrade with his home-made parts, but also with available commercial parts. 57 photos out of a total of 73 show assembly, painting and the weathering process of the vehicle. The photos are reproduced in the largest format that could be used, so you can see everything in detail. A nice addition is the detailed tour of a preserved Type 69-II command tank at the Bovington Tank Museum in the UK with 27 close-up photos. The content of the book continues with the detailed presentation of Alex Clark's used items and relevant scale models, photo-etched parts, brass accessories, resin tracks, paints, weathering materials and more. This part of the book is 36 pages long. It's like a small encyclopaedia of what's available on the market. There are 120 photos showing in detail the contents of the kits, photo-etched parts, resin tracks and parts, plastic accessories, paints, weathering materials, decals, instructions and many profiles for building some unique T-54/T-55/T-59/T-69 and all their variants. Where deemed necessary, much historical data and information has been added, such as the list of conflicts these vehicles took part in as they were in the factory, but also with conversions, upgrades and transformations made by each user.

This is the 12th "Theme Collections" title in our new and ongoing series that draws upon previously published articles from our Scale Model Handbook Figure Modelling Editions to produce a Special Editions Collection book where the content is dedicated to a specific category or period. In this latest edition we've gathered 16 themes of various periods, all Busts, which have a popular following amongst the miniature figure modelling fraternity. The artists used acrylics, enamels and oil colours in their articles, so here you will find a variety of mediums on how to paint and finish your favourite Miniature Bust subjects. Future titles in this new series will offer carefully chosen articles, grouped together into specific themes.

Traditional busts (we now call V busts) first appeared in kit form on the commercial model market around 40 years ago. We can say that Verlinden and Young Miniatures were the easiest to find in shops and shows back then, but very soon a lot of other companies added this category to their ranges. At first these miniature busts, were not so popular as most modellers preferred full body scale figures. Gradually, however, the sculpting and casting quality improved and busts attracted more fans, and nowadays the genre has numerous followers all over the world.
Miniature busts and half-figures produced in various scales allowed sculptors, and subsequently figure painters, to concentrate on detailing the face, transferring facial expressions and character, and adding personality. The larger scales, usually 1:9 or 1:10, also allowed for some impressive and exquisite detailing on the figure and accessories. For example, an ornate helmet could be given far more detailing and the benefits of added fittings that would not be possible on smaller scale miniatures.
Making your bust painting a success story will make any other miniature figure painting easier. Study the work of some of the best master artists in the world herein, where with the help of 220 photos you'll improve your next painted work and progress to achieve the highest standards possible.

CONTENTS

Roman Legionary 1st century AD - Painting Non-Metallic Metal on a Large Scale Bust - 180mm (1/10)
Hannibal Barca - Painting Realistic Textures Effects for Face Skin & Other Materials - 180mm (1/10)
Gaius Julius Caesar - How to Paint Realistic Metal & Fabric Textures on a Large Scale Bust -180mm (1/10)
English Longbowman Agincourt, 1415 - Painting Mixes for Flesh, Hair, Clothes, Leather and Wood of an English Archer - 150mm (1/12)
European Knight 13th Century - How to Paint a 13th Century Medieval Crusader - 180mm (1/10)
Afghan Tribesman 1842 - Painting Arabic Skins & Fabric Textures (Box Art) - 200mm (1/9)
10th Tennessee Flag Bearer, Irish Brigade, ACW (Box Art) - Painting a Green Flag and a Grey Fabric - 200mm (1/9)
Bear Clan Iroquois - Painting a Native American Bronze Skin with Battle Paint Using Acrylics & Oils (Step by Step) - 150mm (1/12)
Edward Corringham "Mick" Mannock, VC, DSO & Two Bars, MC & Bar (24th May 1887 - 26th July 1918) - Painting a WWI Large Scale Bust of a Real Person Using Enamels (Step by Step) - 180mm (1/10)
James McCudden VC - WWI British Ace Pilot Bust of James McCudden VC, 56(F) Squadron Royal Flying Corps Painted in Enamels (Step by Step) - 180mm (1/10)
German Officer, 116th Panzer Division Windhund - How to Paint a Small Scale Bust with Tamiya Enamels - 120mm (1/16)
Sea Wolf - WWII German U-boat Commander - Painting a WWII German Naval Officer Using Acrylics - 180mm (1/10)
German Tiger Tank Commander - Painting a Tiger Tank Commander in White Winter Uniform with Acrylics - 180mm (1/10)
War Photographer 1971, Vietnam - How to Paint a Realistic Face on 1/10 Scale Bust - 180mm (1/10)
Amaryne - The Border Protector - Painting a Female Fantasy Large Scale Bust using Acrylics Paints and Wet Palette - 180mm (1/10)
Rusalka - Painting a Female Beauty in an Extraordinary Way Using Acrylics - 180mm (1/10)

The basic diorama is supplied as a kit on which artist Roman Novikov-Okhonskiy extended the base and added a lot more features, some accessories and a scratch-built figure, so the final result is a master class diorama. As this super diorama was a custom-made order for a collector, via Attica Miniatures, the artist did not have step-by-step or in-progress photos. However, Attica Miniatures provided us with high quality, large format photographs with five of them spread over two pages so the viewer can easily study every tiny detail on the diorama. The artist explains as much as possible about his work in a very detailed text.

We added a lot of interesting information for the first ever British tank used in battle, the Mark I, its historical data, and some camouflage painting guides with AK-Interactive and Andrea paints. Details on the construction and assembly Instructions for the Super Diorama Kit S3-S04, with texts and photos kindly supplied by Andrea Miniatures on How to Work with Resin Kits and Metal Parts, the Assembly - Painting Process - Step-by-Step Instructions.
How to Prepare and Assemble Metal Figures, once again with photos kindly supplied by Andrea Miniatures, plus How to Paint the Terrain, How to Paint and Weather the Mark I Tank and Preparing a Figure for Painting.

In total this book has 105 high quality photos, 82 of which are step-by-step or in-progress sequences, with a very detailed text, so the reader can easily follow the whole procedure in detail from start to finish. The author has included all the sets, materials, accessories, and paint codes he used so the reader can easily identify them.
