The deployment of gas troops in the battles of Monte San Michele in 1916 and Caporetto in 1917 constitutes the central focus.

This historical and iconographic study analyzes the appearance and spread of the edelweiss cap badge in its numerous variations and variants, initially in the Austro-Hungarian and later also in the German army, from August 1914 until the establishment of the Southwestern Front, which brought the Tyrolean military units back to defend their homeland.

Damals war sich kaum jemand des enormin Einsatzpotenzials dieser neuen Waffe bewusst; erst im Verlauf des Krieges wurden die umfassenden militärischen Fähigkeiten dieses technischen Mittels deutlich. According to the Krieg you can quickly find all the Lands of the Rückgrat with a fully-fledged Streitkraft. In this text there is a new uniform for the Luftwaffen, and the soldiers of the new specialization will be added to the uniform of the Armed Forces.

This first volume presents the buildings and sites of the First World War on the left bank of the Tagliamento, reveals the coordinates that lead us to them, suggests sixteen walking routes that invite us to visit them and, above all, offers a historical analysis that helps us to understand them.

The Allies had two objectives: to open a second front in Europe and, above all, to force Mussolini to abandon his alliance with Hitler, thereby bringing about the fall of the fascist regime. In defence of the island, the Italian and German forces, grouped together in General Guzzoni's 6th Army, despite their numerical inferiority and inadequate and outdated weaponry, managed to counter the Allied landings by fighting the enemy for every inch of ground and facing a thousand difficulties as well as incessant bombardments by the Allied air force and naval artillery. Official historiography has always portrayed the behaviour of Italian units in Sicily in a negative light, repeatedly accusing them of abandoning their positions without a fight. However, not all Italian units surrendered without a fight. Apart from a few negative incidents, such as in Pantelleria or in the Augusta-Syracuse fortress, the conquest of Sicily was generally not an easy and, above all, not a quick campaign for the Allies, which shows that the resistance of the Axis powers was anything but non-existent or weak. This book is intended above all to commemorate the sacrifice of the Italian soldiers in Sicily, who were called upon to defend their homeland and then completely forgotten by their own commanders, their own rulers and, finally, by official historiography.

He was assigned to the XVIII, then the XXVIII assault division, which always operated in the lower Piave area. He took part in all of his unit's combat operations and became the most decorated soldier, receiving one silver medal and two bronze medals. As a friend of Father Reginaldo Giuliani, the most famous chaplain of the Arditi, he decided to recount his war memories in this book, first published in 1938 and now very rare, and to illustrate it with drawings. Fulmini's extensive biography, supplemented by often unpublished photos and documents, as well as the history of the XXVIII Assault Battalion with all its decorated and fallen soldiers, enrich and complete the original text.

<img src='https://www.zinnfigur.com/out/pictures/generated/product/1/390_245_75/5_12187.jpg' border=0 align='left' hspace=5>For the double-volume illustrated book Italy and its Colonies, the depots of the museums of the Euregio (Trentino-South Tyrol and Tyrol) are opening their doors to bring a hidden history to light: that of the Italian colonial collections. For decades, African weapons, khaki uniforms, memorabilia and exotic photographs populated the museum display cases often without any real contextualisation and remained as silent witnesses to a repressed past. This work, published by MITAG - Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra in Rovereto in collaboration with the Militaria publishing house, is the result of an extensive research and cataloguing project carried out on the occasion of the Euregio Museum Year 2025. It is not a simple catalogue, but an investigation into how these objects collected during Italy's colonial history in Eritrea, Somalia, Libya and Ethiopia came to us and what narratives they have shaped. The book analyses the origins of these collections, most of which were formed during the Fascist Ventennio period, when museums such as the one in Rovereto opened special colonial rooms. In this context, the objects served not only to document but also to glorify the conquest, to construct an exotic enemy image and to strengthen Italian imperial identity through propaganda. Italy and its Colonies questions the fundamental nature of these collections through essays and a picture section organised by object category and region of origin. Researchers such as Nicola Labanca and Emanuele Ertola explain the specific characteristics of Italian colonialism. Massimo Zaccaria explores the role of the Askari. Alessandro Triulzi reflects on the complex forms of representation of the colony, while Nicola Fontana and Sabrina Meneghini examine the preserved photographic collections. The volume focuses on the material culture and material geography of the empire. Detailed analyses by Renzo Catellani, Gabriele Zorzetto and Davide Zendri examine uniforms, helmets and badges. Gianfrancesco Lusini traces the long journey of ethnographic objects from the Ethiopian highlands to European display cases. This mapping extends from the first possessions in Eritrea and Somalia to the Mahdist War in Sudan, the conquest of Libya and finally the brutal war in Ethiopia, without omitting lesser-known episodes such as the Tianjin Concession or the Dodecanese. Through the careful cataloguing of the collections of museums such as the MITAG, the Fondazione Museo Storico del Trentino, the Museo Caproni, the Museo Nazionale Storico degli Alpini, the MAG in Riva and the Palais Mamming in Merano, the volume provides an essential tool for understanding not only what Italy took from Africa, but also how it chose to narrate this conquest.

This work reconstructing the history of the uniforms of the financial police continues following the publication of the first volume, Dalla Guardia Doganale alla Regia Guardia di Finanza 1862-1908, in 2011. It was the age of grey-green, when participation in the First World War saw the disappearance of the striking and impressive uniforms of the late 19th century and made way for clothing that also met very specific camouflage requirements. It was a time of important developments in the structure of law and order and institutions, with the establishment of the tax police in 1923 certainly standing out. Among other things, the book contains 99 pages with partly coloured illustrations of uniforms, headgear, rank insignia, equipment and bladed weapons.

<img src='https://www.zinnfigur.com/out/pictures/generated/product/1/390_245_75/5_11797.jpg' border=0 align='left' hspace=5>At the outbreak of the First World War, Italy was a country in which the process of industrialisation had begun, but which structurally lagged behind its major continental competitors. The state pursued a great power policy and built up an army based on the system of conscription, which could call millions of citizens to arms in the event of conflict, as was the case in most European states and empires. The scale of the mobilisation, which involved more than five million adult men in total, the duration of the war and the innovations introduced during the fighting specifically for trench warfare or in connection with the use of new offensive weapons - such as grenades filled with poison gas - put Italian industrial production, logistics and the supply apparatus to the test. This richly illustrated double volume shows the changes that the Italian army underwent during the war with more than 500 weapons, items of equipment, protective gear, insignia and decorations. In 14 chapters, written by 15 different authors, the development of small arms (short, long and machine pistols and rifles) and the gradual introduction of hand and rifle grenades are traced in detail. The personal equipment of the Italian soldier then takes centre stage, as do the special clothing for mountain warfare, the wire cutters, medicine and first aid and the means of communication in the trenches. The double volume concludes with a presentation of individual body protection (gas masks and protective clothing developed for chemical warfare, trench shields and body armour) as well as an overview of the drill and work uniform, military footwear, weapon insignia and official decorations and medals used by the Italian army during the war and in the years immediately afterwards. The items shown and described here come from the holdings of the Museo Storico Italiano della Guerra in Rovereto and other international public and private collections. This work covers all the army's equipment - with the exception of home-made items - up to the end of the First World War and is accompanied by more than 500 contemporary black and white photographs.

The Mortar Corps comprised a total of 5600 officers and 113000 soldiers, divided between the Artillery, Bersaglieri and Alpini units. This is the story of their weapons and their use in the First World War.

This volume tells what the 8,000 Sardinians, the 3,500 Arditi, the 2,000 Alpini and the 5,000 Bersaglieri did.<br><br>It was a battle on the plateau of Asiago, fought by all the assault troops available to the 1st Army. It was a battle fought on the plateau of Asiago by all the attacking troops at the disposal of the 1st Army: for three days, in the middle of winter, at an altitude of over 1200 metres, in the snow, in order to prevent the enemy from attacking the army formed on the Piave and Grappa from the rear.

A chapter is devoted to the "squadrismo", the commemoration of some of those who fell for the Fascist ideal, and the list of the fallen.<br><br>Special care has been taken to explore the iconographic material that accompanies each section. The volume contains over 700 illustrations, including photographs from the period and of various memorabilia, badges and medals, propaganda postcards and various documents.

Aetius & Arthur", is a fully revised and expanded version. The 2017 version appeared between the end of the first "SAGA" edition and the second edition already on the horizon, which then appeared in 2018. Even the official "Update FAQ Pack", could never quite save the book for the second edition. And that is not what such a busy and exciting era as the Migration Period deserves.<br><br>"SAGA. Era of Invasions" contains the 6 factions from "Aetius & Arthur" plus two completely new peoples, the Sassanids (Late Persians with elephants) and the Franks. It should be said that all the included battle plans have been completely redesigned and coordinated with each other. With 4 additional factions introduced in the chapter "Old Friends, New Enemies" (Skoten, Alt Clut and Manaw Gododdin, the Cymry and the Vandals), the epoch now comprises a total of 12 playable factions. The Limes campaign has also been revised in many details and various gaps in the rules or ambiguities have been cleared up. "SAGA. Era of Invasions" is, if you know "Aetius & Arthur", not a completely new book, but finally the expansion for the second "SAGA" edition that this exciting epoch deserves.

In the process, a hitherto unknown number of people suffered physical and psychological injuries. In the health and social after-effects, physical and psychological violence remained present as the core of all military action in the European societies following the war.<br><br>This volume is dedicated to this after-history as an unprecedented European collective experience of violence by asking about how war-affected people were dealt with in the context of socio-political programmes, the complex relationship between rehabilitation and integration, interventions to normalise physical damage, as well as aspects of media representation of war damage and its significance for cultures of remembrance. Did they really take over the brain and switching functions of the armies? Or have general staffs and their working methods merely been transfigured and mystified by memoirs, propaganda and apologetic literature? These questions are explored in the contributions to this anthology.<br><br>They not only examine well-known institutions such as the Prussian-German, British or French general staffs, but also take a look at the lesser-known staffs of the Eastern and South-Eastern European states. In addition to the classic area of war planning, previously neglected aspects of general staff activity will be analysed, such as their influence on military doctrine or military intelligence work. The validity of the thesis of a particularly elitist character of the general staff officer corps, which has been put forward by previous research, will also be examined.
