Pierre DuMont is a young adventurer who travels to Yellowstone around 1809 to make his fortune as a voyageur. Dallas Chief Eagle, a member of the Sioux, was born on 14 August 1925 in a tepee on the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. He attended boarding school at Saint Francis Mission and learned English there, but without ever forgetting his mother tongue, Lakota. After his school education, he joined the American armed forces and fought in the Pacific during World War II. He was a gifted boxer and trained Indian children even after his time in the army. Throughout his life he saw himself as an ambassador for his people, sharing their history and culture with all who truly wanted to learn. He travelled tirelessly as an artist, spokesman and messenger for his people and also tried to promote the economic development of the tribe.
