One of the powerful new Battleships produced for the German Kriegsmarine during the mid 1930s, Scharnhorst was equipped with nine 11-inch main guns which made her a capable commerce raider, but unable to compete with the many more heavily armed Battleships of the Royal Navy.

She was sunk by HMS Duke of York at the Battle of the North Cape on 26th December 1943, but you can bring it back to life in 1:600 scale plastic model kit form!

Built for the Royal Navy after the First World War and completed in 1927, HMS Nelson saw active service from the outbreak of the Second World War, and was present at the surrender of the Japanese in Singapore in 1945.

KGV was made the flagship of the Home Fleet under the command of Admiral Sir John Tovey after the destruction of HMS Hood, and was involved in the chase and the sinking of Hoods opponent, the German battleship Bismarck.

In the Mediterranean, KGV covered the Operation Husky landings at Sicily.

We thought this naval ship model kit was so good the first time round, we've added it to our Vintage Classics range in 1:600 scale.

Prinz Eugen was despatched into the North Atlantic with the Bismarck to attack convoys making for Great Britain.

During the Battle of the Denmark Strait, she damaged both HMS Hood (then sunk by Bismarck) and HMS Prince of Wales, before escaping to Brest in occupied France.

This is another fine naval ship model kit for modellers, coming to your workbench in 1:600 scale.

In May 1941, HMS Suffolk played an important role in the Battle of the Denmark Strait and in the sinking of the Bismarck. During the battle, she attacked the Bismarck twice and was subsequently able to maintain contact with the Bismarck with the help of her radar.

The mighty British warship HMS Iron Duke was a dreadnought battleship which represented the pinnacle of naval power when she entered service in late 1913. During the Great War, she served as the flagship of the British Grand Fleet under the command of Admiral Sir John Jellicoe and took part in the Battle of Jutland actions at the end of May 1916.

HMS Ajax was a British Leander-class light cruiser first launched in March 1934. It was a vessel with an illustrious career. Perhaps her most famous action came at the beginning of the Second World War when she led an engagement against the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee in the South Atlantic, which led to the scuttling of the mighty Kriegsmarine surface raider.

One of the Town Class Batch 3 cruisers, the Belfast saw action at the Battle of the North Cape in World War II, as well as protecting the Artic convoys and taking a major role during the D-Day landings. After being refitted and seeing action in other conflicts including the Korean War, she is now preserved and anchored in the River Thames near to Tower Bridge in London.

The most powerful battleship in the world in 1941 when she sailed to raid Allied shipping in the North Atlantic with the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen. After being spotted by the Royal Navy she was shadowed and then engaged. In this engagement the Bismarck sank HMS Hood. She was then damaged by at least one torpedo from attacking Swordfish, slowing her down. She was eventually sunk by torpedoes fired from Royal Naval ships with the loss of almost 1,900 crew.

The largest warship in the world when launched in 1918. She was the pride of the Royal Navy on sailing to intercept the Bismarck in May 1941. After making contact with the German battleship she, with HMS Prince of Wales opened fire. The Bismarck returned fire and with her 5th salvo hit the Hood a fatal blow and she sunk within two minutes. Only three crew from her total of 1,500 survived.

HMS Belfast is a cruiser, she was lanuched in 1938 and served with distinction in both the Second World War and the Korean War. She is now the only surviving example of the great fleets of the big gun armoured warships built for the Royal Navy in the first half of the twentieth century and the first ship to be preserved for the nation since Nelson's flagship, HMS Victory.

When delivered in August 1939, Belfast represented the high-water mark of Bristish cruiser development. Her retirement from active service in 1965 brought down the final curtain on a long line of vessels built to protect the Empire's trade routes during the period of Britain's amritime ascendancy.
