The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is gradually achieving the goals set during its development: low cost and multiple users. The Royal Netherlands Air Force is one of its first users. The Royal Netherlands Air Force 323 Squadron celebrated its 70th anniversary by painting a Diana Goddess of the Hunt (symbol of the squadron) on the F-35 vertical fins. The paint scheme A is the high-visibility livery of the aircraft of Lieutenant Colonel M.J. Simpson, the commanding officer of VAQ-138 'Yellow Jackets,' and Lieutenant Colonel B.L. Jones, the electronic warfare officer, stationed at Misawa Air Base in Japan in 2022. The yellow jacket emblem on the vertical stabilizer is particularly striking. Misawa Air Base is located in Misawa City, Aomori Prefecture, at the northern tip of Honshu Island. It hosts both Japan Air Self-Defense Force and the U.S. military troops.

Research conducted by the U.S. Air Force has shown that at altitudes above 5,000 meters, visual color resolution significantly diminishes, and color differences virtually disappear. In such conditions, the predominant colors perceived are light gray and dark gray. Therefore, the low-visibility livery, which uses two shades of light gray, is designed to better blend with high-altitude backgrounds and enhance concealment.

The F-4 was originally designed as a carrier-based supersonic fighter in 1956. It entered military service in 1961. With the experience gained from actual combats, the F-4E Phantom II was modified and fitted with an M61 Vulcan cannon under the nose. Some key improvements were made to the wings by adding leading edge slats and flaps. This not only improved its air combat performance, but also strengthened its ground attack capability. As a typical representative of the second-generation fighter jets, the F-4E dominated the sky of that era from the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of the Middle East.
