Eugène-Rose de Beauharnais (German Eugene Duke of Leuchtenberg and Prince of Eichstätt) (born 3 September 1781 in Paris; died 21 February 1824 in Munich) was Napoleon I's stepson and was later adopted by him. He had been Viceroy of Italy since 1805 and married Auguste of Bavaria.
He distinguished himself as a commander in 1809 and became Grand Duke of Frankfurt in 1810.
He took part in the Russian campaign of 1812 and temporarily commanded French troops in Germany in 1813. He returned to Italy and surrendered in 1814, receiving from his father-in-law the title of Duke of Leuchtenberg and Prince of Eichstätt, and henceforth lived in the Kingdom of Bavaria. -Wikipedia-
