Medieval chambered rifles (Kammerstücke) are breech-loading guns that were in use until about the middle of the 16th century. The loose loading sleeve containing the powder is called a "chamber". They come in different designs depending on their size. Because of the small amount of space required for loading, this type of gun was excellent for fighting from casemates (in fortress combat).
