Description
The 4th Armored Division (German: 4. US-Panzerdivision; nickname: Name Enough or Pattonĺs Vanguard) was one of the large armoured units created by the US Army's expansion in the early 1940s as the threat of war intensified. After arriving in the European theatre of war, the armoured division took part in various battles, earning its reputation as General George S. Patton's spearhead. The missions in Lorraine and the Ardennes stand out in particular. Formed in April 1941, the 4th US Armoured Division followed the 1st and 2nd US Armoured Divisions (both formed in 1940, the 3rd US Armoured Division was formed at the same time). -Wikipedia-
