A real highlight from TAMIYA in the field of 1:48 aircraft models: The Lockheed Martin® F-35®C Lightning II ®! The model is a complete mould novelty and an in-house development by TAMIYA. The aim was to realise the most detailed model of this aircraft in 1/48 scale.
The F-35 is available in three versions: A for the Air Force, B for the Marines and C for the Navy. The development was carried out under the JSF programme (Joint Strike Fighter programme) and the F-35 was to represent the fifth generation of fighter jets.
The aircraft has a sophisticated stealth design, a state-of-the-art network and countless sensors that provide all the data for the pilot and computer.
The F-35C was developed as the successor aircraft to the F/A-18 and comes as a so-called CATOBAR (catapult assisted takoff but arrested recovery).
- The unique shape of the F-35C and the characteristic stealth canopy design were modelled exactly. Also the enlarged wings for a slow flight when landing on an aircraft carrier
- Realistically modelled radar absorbed material (RAM)
- Model can be built in various status modes (folded wings, flight refuelling, open or closed weapon bays, etc.)
- The model has particularly faithfully reproduced sections:
Weapons bay incl. lines, undercarriage bays, cockpit, nozzle, Martin-Baker US16E ejection seat (multi-part), ladder, Y-shaped air intakes, 5-part engine nozzle, RCS radar, and much more.
- Can be built in 3 different modes: Stealth Mode, Air-to-air Mode, beast Mode
- Incl. seated pilot figure with Helmet-Mounted Display (HMD)
- Transparent parts for sensor windows
- The model can be built in six different colours:
4x U.S. Navy, 2x U.S. Marine
- Includes masking film for painting and a coloured painting template
- Glue, tools and colours are required for assembly
