The Zulu War of 1879 was an undeclared war between the Zulu people of South Africa and the British Empire.
After the British annexations of Natal in 1843 and the CAR in 1877, Zululand - now almost entirely enclosed in British-controlled territory - increasingly posed an obstacle to the British in consolidating their South African possessions. In 1879, British troops entered Zululand from Natal. After initial successes (defeat of the British at the Battle of Isandhlwana on 22 January 1879), the Zulu were defeated by the British, who were far superior in terms of weapons and tactics, at the Battle of Ulundi on 4 July 1879. - Wikipedia -
