Description
Friedrich Wilhelm of Brandenburg (1620-1688) from the House of Hohenzollern was Margrave of Brandenburg, Arch Chamberlain and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire and Duke in Prussia from 1640. His pragmatic, decisive and reform-minded governmental policy paved the way for the later rise of Brandenburg-Prussia to a great power and of the Hohenzollerns to one of the leading German ruling dynasties, which is why he also bore the epithet of the Great Elector from 1675 onwards. -Wikipedia-
