With double combatants, Germania c. 100 AD The horsemen wear only the typical long trousers of the Germanic tribes and the cape. They ride bareback and attack with sword and frame. Foot warriors hold on to the riders and, using the horse's traction, run just as fast alongside. With such "double fighters" the Teutons compensated for the lack of cavalry and could also attack quickly and surprisingly on foot.
The feared Teutonic double fighters were a special Germanic fighting tactic.
