The Battle of Gallipoli was Britain's bitterest defeat of the First World War. This volume is concerned with putting the campaign into perspective. On the one hand, it seeks to situate the operations within the First World War, and on the other, to describe the role that the "unfinishedness" of Gallipoli currently plays in the national memory of the successor states to the British Empire.
