Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr von Seydlitz-Kurzbach (* 3 February 1721 in Kalkar; 8 November 1773 in Ohlau) was a Prussian lieutenant general of cavalry under Frederick the Great. He fought in the Silesian Wars and was victorious in the Battle of Roßbach. Seydlitz was one of the most important commanders of his time.
