Forty years after the publication of the first book on the history of the tank soldiers of the Leonessa tank group, a comprehensive study of the history of this unit is presented, building on previous research and expanded with the help of previously unknown documents from both partisan and RSI sources. It covers the history of the Leonessa tank group from its formation in late spring 1943 under the command of the Royal Army in the 1st Armoured Division M, later the 136th Armoured Division Centauro, up to the more well-known events in which the Leonessa tank group was deployed in the fight against the partisans. The text focuses on the events that took place within the unit, but the point of view of the opposing side, the Resistenza, was also taken into account in the writing of the text in order to give the reader a complete picture of these controversial moments.
