Launched shortly before the United States entered World War II, the Massachusetts saw action in the Mediterranean and the Pacific, including at Casablanca, the Philippines, and Okinawa. The ship survived the war and was spared scrapping. It is currently on display at Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts.
