Until 1918, the soldiers as well as the population of the German Empire were still convinced that their victory in World War I was imminent. But the battle of Amiens turned the tide, not least because numerous tanks were used by the Allies for the first time. Germany had to capitulate in autumn 1918, while the November Revolution was brewing in the background. In the so-called "stab in the back legend", the military defeat was later attributed to political unrest in the country. This book sheds light on why this is a myth and what circumstances really led to the failure of the empire.
