The fourth book in the Duke Hawkins Classics series focuses on one of the fastest aircraft built during the Second World War: the De Havilland Mosquito. This all-rounder, which was largely constructed from wood, was equipped with two Merlin engines. The combination of powerful engines, low weight and high manoeuvrability proved to be a fantastic recipe for a multi-purpose aircraft. This book shows the Mosquito and its various versions in detail. The bomber and reconnaissance versions, the fighter-bomber, night fighter and target towing versions are shown from all angles. The differences between the versions and their missions are described and illustrated, from the engines to the cockpit. The latter differ considerably, even the control console of the bomber versions and the control stick of the later versions.
