"Danes on D-Day" is an account of the Danes who fought for the Allies before, during and after the invasion of Normandy in World War II. Many of them took part in D-Day on 6 June 1944, both on the beaches of Normandy and in the surrounding area. The book is based on eyewitness accounts and diaries. Although much of the source material focuses on the perspective of the sailors, Danish pilots, paratroopers and infantrymen on D-Day and in the subsequent offensives after the invasion, which took place under the code name Operation Overlord, are also covered. They gave their best for what they believed was right! The book is richly illustrated with contemporary photographs of the men and the places that were the scene of the dramatic events of 1944.
