Sitting Bull (1831-1890) was a Hunkpapa Lakota leader who led his people during years of resistance to United States government policies. Red Cloud (Lakota: Ma?píya Lúta) (1822 December 10, 1909) was one of the most important leaders of the Oglala Lakota from 1868 to 1909. Crazy Horse ('His-Horse-Is-Crazy'); c.?1840 September 5, 1877 was a Lakota war leader of the Oglala band in the 19th century. Winnetou is a fictional Native American hero of several novels written in German by Karl May (18421912), one of the best-selling German writers of all time with about 200 million copies worldwide, including the Winnetou-trilogy.
