Volume 18 of the series "Imagenes de Guerra". Illustrated with a large number of contemporary bw illustrations and some colour illustrations, the volume describes the fierce fighting for the Kuban bridgehead in 1943. The defence of the Kuban bridgehead was a desperate attempt by the German leadership to "claw" its way somewhere in the Caucasus area, in the daring hope of being able to use this space as a base for future offensive operations in the Caucasus. The author describes the intense fighting in this hard-to-reach theatre of war and finally the heavy retreat fighting of the German units in the inevitable evacuation of the Kuban bridgehead.
