Volume 36 of the series "Imagenes de Guerra". After the German battleship "Bismarck", the Imperial Japanese battleship "Yamato" is perhaps the most famous warship of World War 2. Almost everything about this ship is a superlative: the largest and most heavily armoured battleship of all time; the main and secondary guns of the "Yamato" used the largest calibres ever built.
And although the "Yamato" was not credited with any great feats of arms in terms of sunk tonnage, the "Yamato" has a firm place in the collective memory of the Japanese nation, where she stands as a symbol of sacrifice and the end of the battleship era. In this volume of the series "Imagenes de Guerra", the conception, development and warrior activities of the three ships of the "Yamato" class ("Yamato", "Musashi" and "Shinano") are examined in detail.
