This book traces the fate of more than 20 aircraft that were shot down or captured for various reasons during the First World War in the territory controlled by the Bulgarian army. Exhausted by the previous Balkan wars, the Bulgarian Air Force made enormous efforts to meet the challenges of the Great War and compete with the Allies with the help of combat aircraft. However, their capabilities were limited as the country did not manufacture its own aircraft and it was difficult to obtain aircraft and related equipment from Germany. The military command and Bulgarian pilots attempted to compensate for the lack of aircraft with good flight characteristics by using captured enemy aircraft.
