Volume 9 of the series "Waffen im Einsatz. The PK Photo Series". This is a series of books on the equipment of the German Wehrmacht with hand weapons during World War 2. For the first time, this volume is not dedicated to a specific weapon model, but deals with weapons that were either captured in such large quantities that they were suitable for equipping closed units or were further manufactured in the occupied countries in the weapons factories there in order to meet the enormous demand for hand weapons. Other than through the extensive use of loot material, it would hardly have been possible for the German armament industry to compensate for the war-related losses of hand weapons.
Due to the abundance of material covered, the individual loot weapons are not described in detail, but only conversions, modifications or markings that distinguish them from the original weapons are presented in detail. Furthermore, there is a complete overview of all identification sheets that were issued for the handguns of the hostile and neutral states. The volume is again rounded off by a spectacular selection of official German propaganda photos that have rarely or never been published before. This mixture of solid information and contemporary photos makes the PK photo series an important source of information for every collector and reader interested in contemporary history, as weapons and equipment are shown in actual wartime use.
