Description
Even before the First World War, the Royal Navy was developing small boats to be used as cruisers' tenders to bring them to the place of action on the coast. During the war, their shallow draft was intended to enable them to pass over the minefields off the German coast. The ship units thus contributed an essential part of the war at sea in waters close to the coast.
Ingo Bauernfeind presents in this volume German as well as Allied fast and torpedo boats in the Second World War. Compact but detailed, he describes their development, operational history and technical features.
