Description
Volume 132 of the series "Guerreros y Batallas" deals with the role of the Spanish army in the wars of succession of European states in the first half of the 18th century. This is a period in the military history of Spain that has received little attention due to the outsized interest in the War of the Spanish Succession or the War of Independence against Napoleonic foreign rule. This publication seeks to fill this gap. It looks at the role of Spanish troops in the War of the Sardinian Succession in 1717 and during the struggle for the Scottish crown in 1719, focusing in particular on the Battle of Glen Shiel.
The book describes the historical context of the battles for Sardinia and Scotland, takes a look at the organisation of the Spanish troops and enlightens the reader on the military events in the two theatres of war.
