Description
Volume 95 of the series "Guerreros y Batallas" describes in detail the battle of Najera in 1367. Originally an internal Spanish affair, the dispute over the crown of Castile very quickly advanced to become a secondary theatre of war in the Hundred Years' War that had been raging between England and France since 1337, but which was "officially" ended after the conclusion of the Peace of Bretigny (1360). The volume documents the background of the conflict, presents the most important rivals in the Castilian throne dispute and shows how the English and French intervened in this theatre of war. The main focus is, of course, the description of the Battle of Najera, with which such illustrious names as Edward, the "Black Prince", or Bertrand du Guesclin are associated. The consequences of the battle are dealt with in conclusion.
