Volume 3 of a reprint of one of the most comprehensive collections of sketches of British Royal Navy ships from 1860 to 1939. The complete work comprises 700 plates (folio), which are reproduced here in their original size (37.5 x 24.6 cm). Volume 3 is the first half-volume in the cruiser category and illustrates all British ships of this type that served in the Royal Navy between 1865 (Amazon class) and H.M.S. Belfast in 1939. The individual sketch plates show side views of the ships as well as detailed illustrations and provide information about structural features, variant differences, and conversions. One of the most valuable sources on the appearance of the British Navy and its individual ships. Volume 4 of the complete work then forms the second half-volume on the cruiser ship group and covers the armored cruisers, the so-called large light cruisers, and the cruisers from the interwar period.
