The hussars have always been a favourite of military historians because of their colourful uniforms and daring fighting style. Using the example of the 2nd Royal Saxon Hussar Regiment No. 19, a piece of cultural history of the period between 1791 and 1919 is presented.
The uniforming, arming and deployment of the hussars in the wars of those decades is described as well as their integration into the city and garrison or the everyday life of the hussars and the training of riders and horses. Even the cultural-historical pewter figure is not neglected, as it was a popular medium and collector's item with which the "blue hussars" could be depicted.
