This work, originally published in 1853, was a collaboration between A. Menzel and the librarian of the Royal Theatre in Berlin, Lieutenant E. Lange. It is the history of the Brandenburg-Prussian army up to 1807, focussing on 1740-1786. Every single infantry, cavalry, dragoon and hussar regiment, the artillery, the pioneer, miner and engineer corps, the Jäger and Feldjäger corps on horseback are described from their establishment to their whereabouts in 1806/07 in the form of a more or less detailed master register. With "Rangirrollen", "Verpflegungsetats", "Oekonomie-Reglemts", rank lists of selected years, an alphabetical list of the locations of battles, skirmishes and sieges from 1740-1779 and an index.
