Description
A comprehensive history of the life and work of the distinguished French Marshal Henry de la Tour d'Auvergne, Vice-Count of Turenne, who played a major role in shaping the military fortunes of France in the final stages of the Thirty Years' War and in the decades that followed. In addition to the life story of de Turenne, the second volume contains a reprint of his own memoirs from the period between 1643 and 1658, an evaluation of the Freiburg campaign of 1644 by the Marquis de la Moussay, various reprints of de Turenne's letters and the memoirs of King James II of England on the years 1652 to 1658.
