Description
80 colour plates from the pen of the Swiss uniform painter show the war costumes and uniforms of Swiss contingents in the service of France from the beginning of the 16th century to 1830. The plates are preceded by a short information text about the work of the artist Albert von Escher (1833-1905) and his works in the collection of H. J. Vinkhuijzen (1843-1910).
Three of the approx. 80 plates show flags of Swiss regiments in the service of the French kings Louis XV and Louis XVI.
