Description
Finnish knives from antiquity to the present day. In this book, Anssi Ruusuvuori has written a unique account of the history of the puukko, a remarkable type of knife from Finland. He deals with the technical and design aspects of the puukko and leads the reader through the history of the legendary tool, which is also a weapon, from the Viking Age to the present day. He tells of the great master smiths, industrialisation in the late 19th century and the rediscovery of the puukko in the more recent past.
The book is structured in such a way that first the technique of the puukko and its history are considered. In the second part, the author then presents the numerous regional types and special puukkos that collectors and knife enthusiasts should know about. With more than 700 illustrations, this book provides a comprehensive overview of the subject of puukko and imparts a wealth of knowledge. There is no comparable work in German.
