The Centre of Competence for Military Music started 2018 with a "Brass Band" recruit school. The year 2018 also marked the start of the further development of the armed forces. As a result, the autumn recruit school was moved to mid-January, as there are now only two recruit schools per year since the further development of the army. In total "brass band fever", the RS 16-1/18, including 13 militia cadres, 9 drummers, 6 percussionists and 40 trumpeters, started the 18-week recruit school to thrill the audience with their musical skills, coupled with precision, discipline and passion. For the first time a brass band united with tambourines, the formation invited to 10 hall concerts from the Italian-speaking Grisons to Lake Geneva. More than 2000 children were inspired by workshops for brass instruments, drums and percussion! At the end of the recruit school, the RS 16-1/18 played at the Patrouille des Glaciers in front of several thousand people. On 26 June 2018, 4 women and 80 men started their summer recruit school with their seven-member squad. An exciting time with some highlights was in store for the young musicians. In addition to the annual joint concert with the cadets of the Suvorov Military Academy in Moscow, the concert tour included seven hall concerts throughout Switzerland. The tambourines also participated in the "Avenches Tattoo", the "Jungtambouren- und Pfeiferfest" in Arth SZ, as well as in the "Swiss Junior Drum Show" in Zurich. The band made a guest appearance at the "Tattoo on Stage" in the KKL Luzern on the occasion of the "World Band Festival" and thrilled the audience with a gripping show in the Salle Blanche. With "Towermusic" and "Celtic Crest" you can look forward to two acoustic treats from this show.
