On 8 December 1941, Japan entered the Pacific War with the launch of Operation Malaya, even before the attack on Pearl Harbour. The army units that landed on the peninsula began their advance towards Singapore at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. This article examines Operation Malaya from the perspective of the army and includes illustrative model examples. As a companion piece, the authors recommend Vessel Model Special 99, which looks at the Japanese Malaya Operation from the perspective of the Imperial Japanese Navy.
