Description
The Russo-Japanese War, which broke out in 1904, attracted special attention from the major European powers. More than 80 officers from 16 countries of the world were sent as observers to gain experience for their own armies. Among them were four officers from Austria-Hungary, whose impressions and analyses were to complement those of the military attaché stationed in St. Petersburg.
What picture their reports, together with specialist military publications, painted of the Russian officers ten years before the outbreak of the First World War, who were confronted with the double challenge of a war in the Far East and a revolution at home, is the subject of this book. Volume 20 of the series "Schriften des Heeresgeschichtlichen Museums". published by Heeresgeschichtlichen Museum (Militärhistorisches Institut) in Vienna.
