Description
The end of the Second World War brought a deep break in development work in the armament sector. The experiences of the war led to a rethinking of the use of submachine guns. With the assault rifle, moreover, a competitor had emerged that offered completely new tactical possibilities and pushed submachine guns into other roles: they became self-defence weapons, compact close combat weapons and help the police in the fight against terror. Michael Heidler competently describes the development, types and technical construction of these handguns.
