Description
Tank vehicles captured from the enemy formed an important part of the German vehicle fleet during World War II, including hundreds of captured Soviet T-34 medium-weight main battle tanks. Hundreds of contemporary bw photos show the Beutepanzer T 34 - 747 (r) in Wehrmacht service in this vehicle study. The T-34 is presented to the reader in great detail. The original Soviet design and technology as well as the German modifications. The handling of the "enemy material" by the German tank crews is also precisely documented. The development of the T-34 in the USSR is also explained to make clear what significance hundreds of T-34 loot tanks had in the ranks of the Wehrmacht. A special chapter is devoted to the T-34 dummies on which the Germans practised tank combat in its various guises and improved their tactics in the fight against this feared enemy.
