Description
What was daily life like in ancient Egypt? Often our perception of the Pharaonic period refers to temples such as Karnak or Luxor and not least to tombs such as that of Tutankhamun. Life in the cities and settlements is often only evident from the finds in tombs. But what was it like for the living, how must one imagine everyday life in an Egyptian city? This volume is dedicated to this question.
In it, "city" is not only understood in the sense of architecture, but it is explained how life and coexistence took place there and how people ultimately also died there. How did people live in the houses, what did they eat, how did they wash, did they already have bathrooms, did they already do sports back then, how did they actually get around and how did they buy new sandals? These and many other questions are answered with the help of archaeological, pictorial and textual sources.
