Description
When we hear the word "gladiator", many of us immediately conjure up a certain image in our minds' eye. But Roman gladiators were more than just prisoners of war or slaves slaughtered in the arena - they were often superstars like football players today. As a result, their diet was also very closely monitored. In the course of an experiment, which the author conducted for six months together with the University of Regensburg, it turned out that the basic diet of the gladiators was quite equal to our modern sports diet.
Christian Eckert explains in his book in an entertaining way why this is so and brings out the nutritious diet of the Roman sports heroes with recipes for delicious dishes.
