Description
German North American traveller Balduin Möllhausen describes in his extensive account his experiences in the wake of an expedition sent out by the United States government under Lieutenant Whipple. The enterprise took Möllhausen and his companions from the Mississippi to the coasts of the Gulf of Mexico, to Texas and into the territory of the present-day U.S. state of New Mexico. The author reports, among other things, on navigation on the Mississippi, various forts in the border regions of the USA, contacts with various Indian tribes and inhabitants of the borderlands.
