This book covers the rise of the Martinsyde company from its beginnings before the First World War to its final decline in the post-war years of the British aviation industry. Even then, the company's products continued to be used and were revived by the Aircraft Disposal Company, which sold them abroad to the aviation services of the new states of Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Soviet Russia, as well as the old states of Spain and Portugal. Martinsyde aircraft were in service throughout the First World War and, after a disastrous history on the Western Front, achieved fame in Palestine. In 1917, Martinsyde produced the most powerful fighter aircraft built during the First World War, but it never saw action in the war.
