Description
After the Second World War, the rocket specialist Wernher von Braun left his German homeland and went to the USA, where he became the father of the American space programme. Before and during the war, von Braun and his colleagues had been involved in the development of various new weapons systems on behalf of the National Socialists. They developed the V-2 rocket, which claimed the lives of a large number of civilians in London; with their help, aircraft were equipped with jet engines for the first time; and they invented the "Wasserfall" anti-aircraft missile, which was never used. This work tells the story of these and other top-secret rocket projects of the "Third Reich" in chronological order.
