Description
The second volume of this lavishly designed and large-format standard work on the SS paratrooper battalion 500/600 begins with the last days in Drvar after Operation "Rösselsprung" (operation against Tito's headquarters in Bosnia).
The unit chronicle then describes the march back via Ljubljana to the Neustrelitz location, the transfer to the Baltic States, the heavy losses there in the battles to break open the Wilna cauldron and the difficult retreat battles to the East Prussian Reich border. After a further transfer to Deutsch-Wagram near Vienna, the Bewährungsschützen are finally rehabilitated.
The descriptions of the dramatic and sacrificial operations of the battalion are supplemented by a wealth of previously completely unknown photographs. A carefully designed bibliography and annotations apparatus facilitates the reader's overview.
