Description
The account of the Prussian expedition to East Asia in the years 1860-1862 under the leadership of Count Friedrich Albrecht zu Eulenburg. The aim of the expedition was to establish political and economic relations between Prussia and the countries in East Asia. Apart from the scientific exploration of the region, the main aim was to conclude trade agreements. In addition to the editor Albert Berg (also a painter), F. von Richthofen (geologist) and the draughtsman W. Heine also took part in the long journey. The journey led from Singapore via Bangkok, Java and Celebes to the Philippines and on to Hong Kong, Canton, Macao, Formosa, Nagasaki, Jedo (Tokyo), Shanghai etc.
