Description
This very richly illustrated work, almost exclusively in colour, deals in its 79th edition with the engagements and battles that took place in 1799 on the territory of the Swiss Confederation during the Second Coalition War. The focus is on the military events that led to the spread of the war to Swiss territory in 1799, the battle on the Linth, in the course of which the Austrian General Hotze was defeated by the French General Soult, and above all the two battles of Zurich on 7 June and 25/26 September 1799. As already familiar from the other issues of this publication series, the reader will again find in this edition a detailed analysis of a historical painting, a look at the present-day appearance of the battle sites of that time, short biographies of outstanding followers and opponents of the French Emperor, as well as explanations of the army organisation and uniforming of a force involved in the Napoleonic Wars.
