Description
In June 1942, the great summer offensive of the Wehrmacht began on the Eastern Front. By early July 1942, the 3rd Infantry Division was already at the gates of the industrial metropolis of Voronezh on the Don River. The Red Army knew the importance of the city and defended Voronezh unconditionally. Snipers from both sides entrenched themselves in the ruins and spread fear and terror. Scouting parties were like suicide missions.
This book presents the 3rd Infantry Division "Commander of Frankfurt" in brief, as well as the general sniper system of the Wehrmacht. Original photos round off the reports. In the novel part, the story of a sniper is reflected and the course of a fateful reconnaissance behind enemy lines is reported. Key topics presented: 3rd Infantry Division "Commander of Frankfurt"; composition and tasks of a division staff; sniping in the Wehrmacht; presentation of the Karabiner 98; the novel part reflects events of the time. A volume from the series "Information + Photos + Novel. Contemporary History - Second World War".
